Description
Join us for a hike and picnic in and around Pålsjö skog in Helsingborg!
This is a whole day trip!
==================
Did you know that Skåne’s second largest city contains one of the region’s most lovely hiking and recreation areas? The deciduous forest Pålsjö skog (Pålsjö forest) is situated right next to the heart of the Helsingborg and is where Eos Cares will be going on its next Local Discoveries hike on Sunday the 26th of August.
Pålsjö skog derives its name from the castle Pålsjö slott (Pålsjö castle) which is located inside the forest. The castle itself was built during the medieval times, but got its present appearance between 1676-1679. Pålsjö skog is a natural reserve, and has varied nature, with ravines, lakes, as well as adjacent farm lands with grazing farm animals.
We will drive collectively from Eoshallen to Pålsjö skog. Together we will explore the forest, and we will also be venturing into the city center on the designated hiking path Landborgspromenaden, where we will reach the medieval fortress Kärnan, which today functions as a museum. Here we will stop for a pause, have our lunch, and anyone who would like to enter and check out Kärnan can do so (the entrance fee is 50 kr). Next, we will make our way back to the forest area along Landborgspromenaden. If the weather permits, we will walk to the coast for a stop, where those who feel like taking a dip in the sea can do so, as Landborgspromenaden is situated only a few hundred meters away from the coastline. Then we will continue our walk towards the castle of Sofierio, and then onwards into the forest again and back to our starting point.
The distance covered is roughly 14 kilometers.
Tentative schedule:
9:00 Meet up at Eoshallen, for some coffee and socializing before departure.

10:30 Arrival at Pålsjö kyrkogård
12:30 Lunch break, with the possibility of entering Kärnan (fee 50 kr)
